Kavain is a natural active ingredients used in skin care and extracted from Kava pepper, which contains 30%~70% cavanolactones, with anti-spasmic, anti-epileptic, local anesthetic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antifungal effects. It can treat mental depression, neurasthenia, vegetal nervous disorder, multiple arthritis, toothache, stomach disease and indigestion, and also assist in drug rehabilitation. It is now reportedly listed as an over-the-counter anti-anxiety medication in Germany and approved as a food additive by the FDA in the US.

Kava extract is the most effective substitute for chamomile. And chamomile's soothing efficacy is not obvious, and kava extract can reduce skin sensitivity when applied in facial masks or skin care by low loses.
